This was a *massive* project.

I learned a lot about creating a solid and scalable foundation that helped me grow as an interaction designer.

Honeywell wanted to bring some formality to their on-boarding process, to convince new recruits that Honeywell was a wonderful place to work with a rich history and promising future. We worked with the recruiting team at Honeywell to create a CD-ROM/website focused on new employees to reinforce these concepts.

Designing a Scalable Solution

The work was built out in Flash, using a small base movie and lots of support movies. The base movie directs the experience, calling in small sub-movies as needed. This technique allows for quicker loading of content (especially on the web) and a more flexible framework to build out the finished product or extend it if necessary.

The interface was created in Photoshop and Illustrator. It’s a combination of stock imagery and illustrative textures. There is lots of subtlety and nuance built into the many screens and animations spread out across the entirety of the piece.

Wearing a Lot of Hats

It is one of the larger interactive design efforts I’ve ever built. A deep experience with multiple levels of content presented. I was the sole illustrator, art director and Flash programmer on the whole piece. I also contributed quite a bit to the content development and copywriting portion of the project. Lots of hats to wear on this one.
