Colgate's intranet features a rich suite of productivity applications -- from instant messaging & email clients to an online meeting system & teamrooms. As an extension of our work designing the corporate portal, Colgate asked us to put together campaigns to create awareness around these tools. The goal was to let people know what they are, what they do and how they can use them.
The campaigns took on many forms. They included Flash movies, HTML emails, custom landing pages and downloadable quick-start guides. But no matter what the medium was, the aim was always the same: inform the user about the products and bring some interest to them.
I worked with a content writer as well as different members of our internal Colgate team in order to find the right mix of message & style while always pointing them to an actionable next step.
To compliment the many corporate communication endeavors we built out, there were also offline components to create. There were paper cups for the cafeteria, quick reference cards, small premiums to hand out around the office or Post-It notes.
Whatever the items where, it was an interesting exercise to be able to translate the online brand onto a three dimensional object. Sometimes it was an easy translation, other times it was a little more of a forced fit. Either way, it was a nice change of pace over the usual 1024x768 layouts.
